Ones To Watch: Ethan Ash
3 min readLocation: Cambridge, UK
Genre: Singer Songwriter/Folk Pop
Prodigiously talented English singer songwriter Ethan Ash is set to release his new EP, Face To Face in March. The EP will be preceded by the fantastic new single Chasing Your Love. The track has already garnered much interest in the radio world with Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens recently playing it on his Radio 1 show. Ethan’s work has also had lots of support from BBC England DJ Mark Forrest and Tom Simkins from BBC Introducing Cambridgeshire.
As well as the aforementioned Chasing Your Love, Face To Face includes its title track, Seems Like Love Has Died and ends on Boy Like Me. Chasing Your Love is a breezy affair with a chorus that is as catchy as anything you are likely to hear on the radio right now. Subsequently, the track’s recent Radio 1 play feels like a natural place for Ash’s music to be given a platform. Face To Face is a gentler, more sensitive affair that showcases its writer’s ability to change pace without loosing mood. Seems Like Love Has Died continues in this direction, giving the EP’s middle section a clear sound and identity. Closer Boy Like Me is a punchy, heartfelt number that really brings Ethan’s strong vocal performance front and centre. As with Chasing Your Love, this track has an immediate quality, something that appears to be a constant thread throughout Ash’s work.

Ethan has already supported some of the biggest pop acts in the UK in the last few years, including Ed Sheeran, Passenger, and Seth Lakeman. He has also appeared at a number of major UK festivals, including Bestival, Secret Garden Party, and Latitude.
Ethan also manages to find time for a song – writing project called ‘Rough Cuts’. ‘Rough Cuts’ sees songs he writes become available for free download just as the ‘rough cuts’ emerge from the song writing process. Check out more about the project here.
Ethan is currently running a remix competition for his new single Chasing Your Love through his website. The winner will get two tickets Secret Garden Party festival in the summer. (Competition closes March 16th 2015). For details, click here.

Have been following Ethan’s work for a number of years and have always been impressed. This latest single just gets stuck in your head and it’s hard to keep still when it’s playing. Lyrics that everyone can identify with and you can’t help but join in with the chorus. Great radio friendly tune that really deserves the Radio 1 airplay. Can’t wait for the EP.
