Single Review: Soundgarden – ‘Live To Rise’
2 min readSeattle grunge gods and 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Soundgarden have returned this month with a powerful new single that is set to reignite the bands iconic standing within the industry. Rise To Live is probably one of the best recordings that Soundgarden have released in a career that has now spanned almost 30 years and seen them sell in excess of 20 million records worldwide.
The track is featured in the new Marvel Comics film The Avengers and marks a career defining moment for the band as the track is the first complete studio recording by the outfit since their split back in 1997.
The new single boosts a momentum well worthy for a superhero film as does the numbers anthemic and vocally powerful chorus that is delivered by front man Chris Cornell. Complex guitar riffs and pounding drums collide on the single showing a band who are still churning out some quite credible numbers and well able to still write what fans fell in love with in the bands nineties glory days.
We think Live To Rise is a celebrated return to form for Soundgarden and just the track needed to front and complete the soundtrack to one of the most anticipated films of the years.
