Taylor Swift is one of the biggest stars on the planet these days. Though her personal life appears to be splashed on the pages of almost every tabloid lately for the world to place their judgment, one thing is certain – Taylor Swift can do no wrong when it comes to her day job.
Her star has grown brighter over the past few years with her musical efforts climbing to the top of the charts and selling record breaking units globally, selling over 5 million copies to date. Red, Taylor’s latest studio effort, was released back in October of last year and further solidified the singer-songwriters standing in the mainstream world or country-pop.
The record has already unleashed a couple of sturdy numbers including the lead single, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and the albums last offering, the electro-pop-laced hit, I Knew You Were Trouble. Taylor is preparing for the release of Red’s fourth single, 22. While the single is already released in the US, 22 sees its UK release at the end of the month.
22 serves as an anthem for the younger generation much like Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream and Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F) did and although the singer began her career as a country artist, her releases over the past few years have swayed more toward power pop as this single is evidence of as she continues her reign as today’s biggest selling country crossover artist, capitalizing on both major music markets.

Though the lyrical content of the track pushes no boundaries, 22 is a catchy track, full of hooks and a vibrant melody to allow us to sing along to. It‘s a track all about getting out there, having fun, forgetting about your ex’s, or as she puts it in the opening verse, to “make fun of our ex’s”.
We have no doubt that this single is going to become one of this summer’s big singles as Taylor enjoys her mammoth Red Tour, where we are sure this track is going down well in a live setting.
