News: Paul Young, Nik Kershaw, Cutting Crew and Go West set for Australian 80’s Mania Tour

The 1980’s was a historical Music decade and in September 2015 Abstract Entertainment is proud to announce four of Britain’s best-loved music icons of the 80’s – singer and musician Paul Young, musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nik Kershaw, pop duo Go West featuring lead vocalist Peter Cox and rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist Richard Drummie and finally rock band Cutting Crew. Together they headline 80’s Mania. The Australia Tour Dates are:

English singer and musician Paul Young, was the former frontman of the short-lived bands Kat Kool & The Kool Cats, Streetband and Q-Tips, followed by solo success that turned him into a 1980’s teen idol. He is famous for such hit singles as “Love Of The Common People”, “Wherever I Lay My Hat”, “Come Back And Stay”, “Everytime You Go Away” and “Oh Girl”. His debut album “No Parlez” turned him into a household name. His smooth yet soulful voice belonged to a genre known as “blue-eyed soul”. Since the mid-1980’s Paul Young has had international success along with his backing band Los Pacaminos. In 1984 he recorded the opening and closing lines to the Band Aid single “Do They Know It’s Christmas”, a charity project put together by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. His other hits included a Top Ten version of Ann Peebles’ “I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down”, the Crowded House hit “Don’t Dream It’s Over”, the popular duet “Senza una donna (Without A Woman)” with Zucchero, “That’s The Way Love Is” with Alison Moyet and many others. At the 1985 Brit Awards he was awarded the Best British Male Performer.

Nik Kershaw is an English musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. The former jazz-funk guitarist was a 1980’s teen idol. His 62 weeks on the U.K Singles Chart in 1984 beat all other solo artists. Nik Kershaw penned a number of hits for other artists, including the U.K No.1 single in 1991 for Chesney Hawkes. “The One And Only”. He is best known for the tracks “I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”, “Wouldn’t It Be Good” and “The Riddle”. Elton John described him as “one of the best songwriters of a generation”.

Go West is an English pop duo, formed in 1982 by lead vocalist Peter Cox, and rhythm guitarist and back-up vocalist Richard Drummie. They enjoyed their peak of popularity between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s and are best known for the international top 10 hits “We Close Our Eyes”, “Call Me” and “King Of Wishful Thinking”. They were named Best British Newcomer at the 1986 Brit Awards.

Cutting Crew are an English rock band formed in 1985. They are best remembered for their hit singles “(I Just) Died In Your Arms”, “I’ve Been In Love Before”, “It Shouldn’t Take Too Long”, “One for the Mockingbird”, “Life In A Dangerous Time” and “Everything But My Pride”.
