Interview: Go West

2 min read
We sit down to talk with Peter Cox, frontman of iconic 80's duo, Go West about new releases, new tours and 5 decades of success! ....

The 80’s were one of the most iconic decades in music. Within the space of ten years, the musical landscape was transformed with the rise of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop, and even today artists continue to capitalise on the popularity of these distinctively 80’s genres in their own music, proving its endless influence and an act at the forefront of the 80’s musical revolution was Go West.

Emerging right in the middle of such a massive industry facelift, Go West – made up of frontman Peter Cox and guitarist Richard Drummie – found enormous success with their self-titled debut album in 1985. The record introduced us to a brand new pop duo on the scene with tracks like We Close Our Eyes and Call Me very quickly adding them to a highly sought after roster of acts that would help shape what we know of 80’s pop music. Further into their career they would release their biggest hit in the cinematic shape of Man Of Wishful Thinking, a track that found home on the soundtrack of the Julia Roberts and Richard Gere blockbuster, Pretty Woman.

We sat down to talk with frontman, Peter Cox about the bands success, their upcoming tour with fellow 80’s icon with Paul Young and the 35th anniversary box-set release of their debut album. Here is what he had to tell us…
