News: Paolo Nutini Announces Australian And NZ Tour

2 min read

(AUS) Frontier Touring has announced that it will be welcoming back Scottish singer-songwriter and musician Paolo Nutini to play shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland while in Australia for the Byron Bay Blues Festival over Easter 2015.

The 27-year-old Paisley born singer, who brought us innovative, thought-provoking, soul and funk-infused tunes such as ‘These Streets’, ‘Last Request’ and ‘Jenny Don’t Be Hasty’ is back with a new album, Caustic Love (out now through Warner Music). Caustic Love is an album of unforgettable songs and choice grooves, topped with Nutini’s gutsy voice, which just gets better and better with time and singles him out as arguably the best singer of his generation.

Nutini last toured Australia in 2009 to sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, with an overwhelming demand from fans since then to have him back on Australian and New Zealand shores. On the road and continuously writing and recording since his 2006 debut These Streets, Nutini says he took the long-overdue time off “to reconnect with family and friends. It only takes going home for a little while to put things in perspective”.

The latest album sees Nutini reach new heights with the help of a few friends including Rollo Armstrong (Faithless), Barrie Cadogan (Primal Scream), Tchad Blake (Elvis Costello), revered bassist Pino Palladino (D’Angelo, The Who), legendary American drummer James Gadson (Bill Withers, Marvin Gaye) and Janelle Monáe.

In the week of its release, Nutini released a live video of ‘Iron Sky’ which was filmed at Abbey Road Studios and proclaimed by Adele as “one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life”, and rightfully so, closing in on 4.5 million views. The album took the No.1 spot in the UK for three weeks running.

There are few artists around right now who do what Nutini does and does so well. Caustic Love is already a classic album and illustrates his ability to keep growing musically while staying true to his roots. The latest offering reignites listeners with what we’ve been missing: the raw-throated, soulful vocals coupled with equally enriched layers of sublime backing vocals and instrumentals.
