Interview: Roxette (Per Gessle & Lena Philipsson)
2 min read
Almost 6 years after the heartbreaking loss of iconic frontwoman Marie Fredriksson, Per Gessle has reignited the Roxette flame, bringing the beloved pop-rock powerhouse back to the global stage. This time, he’s joined by fellow Swedish pop legend Lena Philipsson, who steps into the spotlight alongside the classic Roxette band to breathe new life into the duo’s rich and timeless catalogue.
Together, they’re diving deep into the Roxette vaults to deliver hit after hit, from chart-toppers like The Look, It Must Have Been Love, Joyride, and Listen to Your Heart, to fan favourites that have defined generations. The tour marks not just a musical revival, but a heartfelt tribute to Marie, whose presence is deeply felt in every performance. Following a string of successful shows across Australia, South Africa, and Sweden, the tour now heads to the UK and Europe for an exciting run of dates throughout November and December, including a much-anticipated return to London’s iconic Wembley Arena on 1st December 2025.
Renowned For Sound Editor and lifelong Roxer, Brendon, recently had the opportunity to sit down with Per Gessle and Lena Philipsson over Zoom to discuss the tour, Lena’s contribution to the Roxette touring band, and the meaningful ways in which Marie is being honoured on stage.
