Single Review: Brooke Fraser – ‘Betty’
2 min readFollowing the gorgeous debut single Something In The Water and a round of successful sell out gigs around the UK’s most treasured venues including London’s intimate Union Chapel, New Zealand singing starlet Brooke Fraser is about to release the second single from her introductory UK record, Flags.
Betty provides the singer with a sophomore single release and just like Something In The Water this latest track sees Fraser’s eloquent vocals laced beautifully around a syrupy melody of masterful guitar-work, a toe tapping beat and some complimenting finger clicking.
The guitar picking that opens and ends the track helps make Betty stand out and adds a memorable quality to both single and album. The songs momentous chorus is both lifting and helps push the single along while Fraser’s whispery vocals add charm and sentiment to the record within its uptempo rhythm.
With this latest addition to the singers rising profile over her in the UK showing that her international appeal is increasingly attractive, Fraser is paving the way for a successful run with her debut record ahead of hitting the road once again later in the year with a special London performance at Shepherds Bush Empire.
