Single Review: Nathan Sykes – ‘Kiss Me Quick’

1 min read

The Wanted’s hiatus probably left a big gap in many of their fan’s hearts, but here to fill it until the band decide to return is band member Nathan Sykes with his debut single Kiss Me Quick. It’s our first glimpse of what to expect from his forthcoming solo record, and definitely manages to whet the appetite with its powerful vocals and punchy rhythms.

nathan sykes kiss me quickNathan’s no stranger to playing the suave card, and he pulls it off here with ease. Smooth and silky horns lead you in, and the swing vibe is brought bang up-to-date when backed against beats and snaps, pushing the track up to the next level.

Nathan’s vocals are as good as ever, and going solo has given him a chance to show off his range of vocals without other band members crowding out the sound. He holds his own with ease, and the chorus suits his vocals perfectly against the continuation of trumpets, bringing the track out of its shell.

The song’s uniqueness is something that’s been missing in pop music recently, and the trick that it pulls off brilliantly is managing not to outstay its welcome, and instead leaving you wanting more. This is the sign of a good song, and the perfect set up for the singer’s upcoming record. If you wondered if Nathan could hack it on his own, Kiss Me Quick definitely answers that question with a resounding yes.
