Single Review: John Legend – ‘Made To Love’

2 min read

In his nine year career, and with three full length albums already under his belt, John Legend has rarely put a foot wrong. He’s won nine Grammy Awards, received the special Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame, collaborated with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, MSTRKFT, Mary J. Blige, The Black Eyed Peas, Fort Minor and Lauryn Hill, to name but a few, and produced hits for too many artists to name. He even sang in a video for Barack Obama, which was produced by Will.I.Am for the compilation album Change Is Now: Renewing America’s Promise.

JohnLegendMadeToLoveLegend’s new single, Made To Love, does nothing to hurt his reputation as an amazing artist. The single is sexy and sensual in this wonderfully glamorous way that’s so hard to come by these days, and there’s also something incredibly tender about Legend’s crooning. “I was sent here for you / We were made to love / You were sent for me too,” Legend compares his love with an exquisite work of art, and claims that “I was never sure of God before / But I know he must exist / He created this…”. This guy would make any woman weak at the knees!

The song has this mid-tempo, sexy dance kind of feel that is perfectly complimented with Kimbra’s vocal wailing and scatting. The accompanying rattling claps and strong string section build to a point that, by the end of the song, you feel as if you want to go to war for this magnificent creature Legend is professing his love for.
Made To Love is the perfect way to kick of his forthcoming album, Love In the Future. John Legend really can do no wrong.
