Single Review: Daft Punk – ‘Instant Crush’

2 min read

French electronic music duo, Daft Punk have had a huge year with their release of Random Access Memories and with their newest single, Instant Crush, it can be acknowledged that they are definitely back for One More Time (see what I did there). Getting into Daft Punk isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and although their music seems to be strange and off-putting at first due to the electronic music, it’s an admirable quality for a band to give off a unique vibe. Their music is strange in a good way and this is because there is nothing like Daft Punk. No one can copy Daft Punk because they’ve left a mark in the music industry which entitles them to produce music that they can safely call their own.

Daft Punk - Instant CrushInstant Crush is a nice, chilled-out track that encompasses the electronic signature sound offered by the dynamic duo. The track itself encompasses simplicity, with a hit of a chorus that gives off a groovy vibe. The music clearly emphasises the heavy use of the synthpop and disco genres, with complements to the keyboards and synthesisers used in this track. The vocals accompanied in this track are from Julian Casablancas and it has been noted down that he happily agreed to do the vocals, implying that he inevitably had an “Instant Crush” with it.

It’s clear that Daft Punk are masters in the electronic music world and it’s a rewarding achievement in itself that their album, Random Access Memories, has been well-respected around the world, earning the title as a universally acclaimed album. Instant Crush is a definite indication that Daft Punk are a solid duo that take their music very seriously and fans that religiously follow them would definitely agree that waiting 8 years for Daft Punk to release new music was well-worth the wait.
