Single Review: Lauren Pritchard – ‘Not The Drinking’
2 min read
The brooding voice of new singer songwriter Lauren Pritchard, hits a certain chord whenever I hear the sultry and soulful folk newbie.
Already making her mark within the folk genre, Pritchard has quickly secured numerous acclaimed slots at some of 2010’s prominent festivals including Latitude and The Great Escape. The singer was also billed as one of the divas that took to the stage of the Roundhouse on October 20th, performing alongside the likes of Spice Girl Melanie C and the iconic, Annie Lennox, as part of Voicestorm.
Ahead of the release of her debut record, Wasted In Jackson, which she has been putting the finishing touches on over the past few months as well as filling her calendar with a long list of successful dates to promote the forthcoming record, the singer follows up her previous breakthrough hit, Painkiller, with the records next single, Not The Drinking.
The track is a soulful number which sees the introduction of a fantastic horn section that compliments and fills out the track superbly with Pritchard’s bass heavy vocals rolling throughout the track. Flowing well from start to end, Not The Drinking is a catchy number for the Tennessee born singer who has a genuinely fresh talent for songwriting and delivering some amazing, radio friendly hits which we are about to hear a lot more of with the parent records release later this month.
