Film Review: Venom: Till Death Do They Part

2 min read

‘In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.’- Sony Pictures

Snapshot Review: Everyone’s favorite symbiote is back for the third and “final” installment (is it really?) of the Venom franchise. More villains (we meet intergalactic super-villain Knull), larger production scale, and non-stop action sequences amp it up a notch and make it seem like the biggest production in the series so far.  In one particularly notable sequence, Venom morphs with a horse and we also see the introduction of the ‘Xenophage’ aliens which have cavernous mouths that act like a woodchipper (except they eat people instead of wood). Though a few of the plot points that drive the story will have you rolling your eyes, it’s a fairly standard Marvel storyline and doesn’t offer much we haven’t seen before. But luckily, Venom: The Last Dance really leans in to what sets this series apart: the hilarious banter between Venom and Eddie! Action sequences and special effects are incredible, of course, but it’s the ‘odd couple’ relationship between the two that makes it so fun.
