Single Review: The Last Republic – ‘CCTV’

2 min read

Next week The Last Republic will release their new single CCTV which merges a sweet orchestral backdrop with emotive and powerful vocals that dance hand in hand with crashing guitars to produce one of the leading singles of 2010.

TheLastRepublicCCTV opens up as a full on rock mash up with a nice synth backing that adds enough filling to create an atmospheric buzz. CCTV could have easily been written for the likes of Muse. With lead vocalist Jonnie Owens voice sounding not too dissimilar to that of Muse front man Matthew Bellamy, or even Keane’s Tom Chaplin to a certain degree, the song automatically adopts a commercial rock feel to it as it takes your audio senses hostage for a satisfying three minutes as the song repeatedly soars to blistering new heights.

The keys that ascend and descend throughout the track are subtle and complimenting around the songs string arrangement that adds an orchestral feel to one of the best new rock tracks out this year.

The Last Republic are set to conquer the radio waves with this amazing piece of sonic rock. For a fresh new band to create such a monster of a track so early in their career is a feat in itself and CCTV is a track that will no doubt appeal to the greater masses and achieve these boys substantial exposure within the rock genre they are clearly set to master.
