Single Review: Jessica Mauboy – ‘Beautiful’

Australian R&B star Jessica Mauboy returns with a peppy number called Beautiful, the latest in a string of light-hearted mainstream-friendly dance tracks. The song is the second single from her album of the same name, the follow up to the cheery and infectious Pop a Bottle (Fill Me Up).
The former Australian Idol contestant and Young Divas member has accomplished a lot in her 24 short years, having just released her third album and scoring a lead role in last year’s huge film The Sapphires.
Mauboy has a knack for producing feel-good songs made for dancing and singing along with without being overly cheesy or irritating. Beautiful is no exception to this – it’s upbeat and catchy and begs to be played loudly while getting ready for a night out.
Beautiful starts out with a burst of energy and doesn’t lose any momentum throughout the whole song, complete with electronic keyboard and heavy bass notes making it the perfect Summer club track. The latest single is sure to be another hit for the young singer who can’t seem to do anything wrong at the moment.
