Interview: Jessica Mauboy

Over the last few years singer-songwriter Jessica Mauboy has become one of the most successful and talented musicians to emerge out of the Australian music scene. She first rose to fame when she competed in Australian Idol back in 2006 and has since produced 3 hugely successful studio albums in the shape of her debut, Been Waiting, her sophomore LP Get ‘Em Girls and last years Beautiful as well as launching herself into the world of film with her impeccable performance in the hit musical film The Sapphires.

During the past 6 months she has also been busy flying the flag for her native Australia at some of 2014’s biggest events including her flawless performance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark and on August 3rd she will take to the stage at Glasgow’s Hampden Park Stadium to help close the 2014 Commonwealth Games during the events Flag Handover Ceremony.

With a career that have been marked by enormous success and critical acclaim, Jessica has recently unveiled her latest studio effort. Revisiting some of the musicians biggest hits like Inescapable, Never Be the Same and Burn as well as recording a cover of Frank Ocean’s Thinking About You, Jessica has recorded a special iTunes Session EP and during the promotion of the record, we were given the opportunity and pleasure of sitting down with Jessica to talk about the new release, her career highlights and whether she has considered growing a beard following her incredible Eurovision performance.
