Single Review: Paloma Faith – ‘Trouble With My Baby’

2 min read

UK songstress/actress Paloma Faith has been making waves with her latest album A Perfect Contradiction. The album’s first single, Can’t Rely On You was given the midas touch by Pharrell Williams while second single Only Love Can Hurt Like This shot to number one in Australia recently after being featured on an ad for hit TV show Winners & Losers.  Trouble With My Baby is to be the third track to be released as a single for UK fans from A Perfect Contradiction, but is it a suitable choice?

Paloma Faith - Troubel With My BabyTrouble With My Baby follows the same Paloma Faith formula present on each of her albums; the struggles surrounding a troubled, and possibly doomed relationship. The song is as energetic as it is catchy, there is a power in Faith’s voice that is to be reckoned with; not many artists on radio can boast a range as forceful as hers. Compared to its predecessors, it has as much potential to be popular among the masses, and its accompanying video clip isn’t too shabby either. Faith’s signature fusion of jazz, Motown and pop are all present in Trouble With My Baby; a perfect combination.

Overall, Trouble With My Baby was bound to be a reasonable single choice from A Perfect Contradiction; it is one of the catchier tracks from the album, also one of the shortest which is desirable by radio stations pushing their time slots.  Trouble With My Baby is a classic example of the energy and strength Paloma Faith has to offer through her music, it’s also an instant favourite from the very first listen of A Perfect Contradiction.
