Vinyl Review: The Corrs – Album Collection
3 min readTo celebrate their much awaited return to the stage and forefront of pop, the worlds favourite Irish sibling band, The Corrs are celebrating their incredible 30 year career as one of music’s finest collectives with the release of each of their albums on vinyl. And not just any vinyl. With the exception of debut album, Forgiven Not Forgotten, which was released last year as part of National Album Day in gorgeous red recycled colour vinyl, each of the outfits remaining six studio albums have been given a new kiss of life (a bit of a nod to White Light right there) and been unveiled in their own very special, limited edition colour.
The release of these albums comes as a high delight to fans of The Corrs who have waited a long time for their favourite bands albums to be released in this format. And with the resurgence of the bands popularity over the last year, starting with their hugely successful shows in Asia, Australia and New Zealand as well as their widely acclaimed performance at BST Hyde Park alongside Shania Twain where they were hailed by many as the highlight of the entire 2024 BST series, has been followed by their Talk On Corners 25th Anniversary tour which recently wrapped up at London’s O2 Arena on November 20th and which we attended – you can find our review of the amazing show HERE.
The albums have been unveiled in 3 batches and right in the middle of their highly acclaimed tour with Talk On Corners (2LP Limited Edition Gold Vinyl) & In Blue (2LP Limited Edition Blue Vinyl) being released on October 25th, Borrowed Heaven (2LP Limited Edition Green Vinyl) & Home (2LP Limited Edition Yellow Vinyl) on November 15th & more recent albums White Light (2LP Limited Edition White Vinyl) & Jupiter Calling (2LP Limited Edition Red Vinyl) wrapping things up on December 6th.
This collection of vinyl from one of the pop world’s finest is one of the most exciting packages we have held in our hands for quite some time. There is so much nostalgia held in this collection for those who cherish everything great about 90’s and early noughties pop music. Especially the earlier releases from the quartet – as a fan, having these albums finally be released on vinyl is something truly special. And not just content with the release on vinyl, each comes in such a unique colour and appropriate to the overall artwork and theme of each release.
Within each album package are the original photographs in spectacular high-def form and as a long-time fan of the band, right from that very first single bac in September 1995, and as a music fan who would scour artwork and read each of the albums credits after purchasing an album in the 90’s, looking through the artwork and revisiting these things that are considered such a ‘golden oldies’ type of thing these days, really took me back in time. And the sound? Absolutely gorgeous!
Whether you are a casual listener of The Corrs or an avid follower of the Irish outfit, this is a truly exceptional release campaign and one that has really set the bar very high and brightened up my personal record collection. With the band also re-releasing their 2001 ‘Best Of’ compilation on sparkly gold vinyl last year, that just leaves their ‘Unplugged’ release to have its time to shine – fingers-crossed!
