Single Review: The Band Perry – ‘Done’

2 min read

If a pumping, wild Country drenched hit is what you are on the look out for then look no further because The Band Perry are back with probably their most infectious and kick-ass track of their career to date.

TheBandPerryDoneThe Mississippi three-piece, which consist of siblings Kimberly (lead vocals), Reid (Bass) and Neil Perry (everything else), have been together as a band since 2005 but have really come to the forefront of the Country music scene over the past two years with a series of releases that have helped garnish their mantles with awards including Academy of Country Music Awards, Country Music Association Awards and a few CMT Awards for their accomplishments.

The trio is preparing for the release of Pioneer, their sophomore effort which serves as a follow up to the bands 2010 debut self-titled effort.  Pioneer is scheduled for an April 2nd release and the collections lead and slightly morbid single, Better Dig Two has already served the record well in offering us a sample of what’s to come on its parent release.

Done is the second single taken from the forthcoming album and the number is a strong release for the unit that combines a memorable chorus and a stunning vocal delivery by front woman Kimberley Perry. The vocals shine above all else on this number and we really get a feel of what the songbird can offer as she rolls through a confident arrangement overflowing with defiant lyrics as she warns the subject of the song “you play with dynamite, don’t be surprised when I blow up in your face” that pairs witty lyrics with the tracks end-of-verse hooks that keeps us hanging on every word.

This track really is as good as it gets and with the incredible performances coming from each band member they really do knock the nail right on its head with an anthem for anyone breaking free of a relationship on the rocks.
