Single Review: Tinie Tempah – ‘Trampoline’ (feat. 2 Chainz)
2 min readEnglish rapper Tinie Tempah’s latest track Trampoline tells us to shake, shake, shake, shake, jump, jump, jump, jump – and with this song’s electro pulse breaking into a sub drop, it’s hard to refuse Tinie Tempah’s call to dance action.
Trampoline is the lead single from his upcoming second album, Demonstration. The song features a rap verse from big name hip hop artist 2 Chainz and was produced by sought after DJ and producer, Diplo. Tinie Tempah said in a press release that the song would be the transition between the first and second albums saying, “I didn’t want to over-think the first single too much…I describe it as being like a climax.”
His first album landed in 2010 and was titled Disc-Over. It went double platinum and had a number of hit singles, most notably Pass Out. He collaborated with a range of big names from Swedish House Mafia to Wiz Khalifa and had a new and exciting sound that brought hip hop and electro together.
This song continues this fresh energetic sound and pushes towards the next big thing in music. The rhymes are fierce, it’s full of swag and 2 Chainz’s addition is smooth and sophisticated- reminding us why he’s so big right now. It’s not going to be the climax to Tinie Tempah’s career that’s for sure, and if this single is anything to go by, the upcoming album is sure to break as hard as his first.
