Single Review: Kylie Minogue – ‘Into The Blue’
3 min read
With over 25 years full of chart topping hits firmly under the belt of her gold hot pants, numerous sold out world tours and a massive global following to proudly call her own, there isn’t much more that pop icon Kylie can do to outdo herself. Despite this it is always exciting when the pint-sized pop starlet announces the release of new material. There is a feeling of giddiness that takes over when we know that something new is about to be unleashed from the Minogue camp.
With her twelfth studio album, Kiss Me One, having its finishing touched applied in preparation for a March 2014 release, lead single Into The Blue sets the scene for one of the year’s most highly anticipated releases. If Into The Blue is indicative of what we can expect on Kiss Me Once then we are in for one hell of a collection.
Having taken up residence within Jay Z’s management Roc Nation, I have to admit that I was a little weary about Kylie’s next move; concerned slightly that the star who is famous for her camp, glossy pop musical outpourings was about to hang up her sparkly dresses and feather headdresses for an RnB makeover. Thankfully that doesn’t seem to be the case with Into The Blue though let’s face it – if it was the case we are still pretty sure the offering would be amazing.
Into the Blue is an energetic pop juggernaut that is every bit the Kylie that we have come to know and love for the best part of 25 years. Its catchy chorus allows the singers vocals to shine and the bouncy, club-drenched melody encourages a sing-a-long from even the most prudish of music lovers. The hooks in the track are on full show, something that has helped keep Kylie at the very top of her game for so many years. It’s a free flowing hit for Kylie that serves as a delicious appetizer ahead of the release of Kiss Me Once.
It’s a safe bet that Kiss Me Once is going to be a huge record for Kylie Minogue – especially if Into The Blue is anything to go by and we can’t wait for a new year full of Kylie Minogue pop greatness.
