Single Review: Jai Waetford – ‘Your Eyes’

1 min read

Isn’t he the cutest? X Factor Australia followers have had their ‘awww’ noises tested this series with the 14-year-old from NSW who’s talent soars way above his years.

JaiWaetfordInsertJai Waetford from NSW made his way to the final of this year’s X Factor Australia, and from word go, blew the judges away with his sophisticated sound and creative flair. In his first audition Waetford sung one of his own pieces, Don’t Let Me Go, and you could feel the rubbing of hands together of every music producer in Australia.

Waetford’s X Factor single, Your Eyes is an R&B flavoured pop song with a catchy hook – “they got nothing on your eyes”. It takes me back to when Justin Bieber sang Baby like he’d even had a girlfriend at 14, and now Australia has its own tiny crooner.

Waetford has already received props from Justin Bieber, with the superstar posting a photo of Waetford on his Instagram saying “I’m a fan and I haven’t been impressed like this in a very long time.” That’s 11.6 million followers who have now had their first glimpse of Jai.

In Your Eyes is strong and radio ready. Waetford’s line “hope this song will be enough” shows his Aussie side to downplay his talent, and if he keeps being humble, he can’t lose.
