Single Review: Cheryl Cole – ‘Crazy Stupid Love’
2 min readIt’s been quite a while since we heard any rustling from the Cheryl Cole camp but recently there has been some promising movement with the former Girls Aloud beauty getting ready to take on the world of pop once again.
While the release date of Only Human, Cole’s 4th solo album, is still yet to be announced, the singer has offered us a teaser in the go-getter shape of cracking new up-tempo single, Crazy Stupid Love.
The track falls nicely into the growing Cheryl Cole hit catalogue as we are offered a bouncy, pop-fuelled hit with plenty of surprises and a welcomed guest spot by UK grime prince Tinchy Stryder.
Cole’s previous album lead singles have all been bursting with commercial appeal and all did very well chart-wise when they were released so expectations have been sitting quite high for Cheryl to replicate that success and really deliver with this ‘comeback’ single. Thankfully Crazy Stupid Love follows suit rather nicely. The single has a JLo/Beyonce-ish vibe running through it in terms of its quick delivered, toe-tapping structure while Brit rapper Tinchy Stryder adds an effortless rap licking to the number nearing its end as horns toot left, right and centre allowing for the song to dip its toes in almost Latino-pop territory.
The timing certainly could not have been more fitting for the track to be unveiled. Along with the announcement of the new single came the news that Cole would be taking up a seat at the judges table once again on the UK’s X-Factor, a role she thrived in a number of years ago. Let’s just hope the X-Factor cloud doesn’t cast too much of a shadow over her pop career and create any delays in terms of the album release and further single cuts because if this new hit is anything to go by, we are in for one hell of a treat!
