Single Review: Brad Paisley – ‘River Bank’

As with most things in life, it’s usually the little things that make the difference between a good day and a bad one. Likewise, it’s not only what happens to you during that time but also your perception regarding each and every occurrence that will contribute to whether you call it a night smiling or fuming. With that in mind, the simple, light-hearted and uplifting new song by Brad Paisley, titled River Bank, takes the optimistic view on just such an argument.
Along with the classic country sound and feel that hits all of the right notes for fans of the genre, River Bank delivers not only easy listening music to throw on for a drive but also has a distinct sing along pull with its uplifting lyrics. Whereas the Barenaked Ladies sparked our imagination with grandiose speculation about all that we could bring into our lives with a million dollars, the enjoyment of the small wins in life is exactly the thing that Brad Paisley tries to underline.
With River Bank, it is not the pot of gold that is romanticized but instead that small win in life that each of us have experienced and felt joy from, the two dollars from a scratch lottery ticket that you decide to ride the hot hand on and turn into ten before ultimately cashing in for a cold case of beers, that is brought to the forefront. Though the song definitely pays homage to the pie in the sky dreams, ones that in some way are held by each and every one of us, the song remains true in its attempt to make us not wait around for them but instead enjoy what we have at the moment.
