(US) Tess Henley, winner of Guitar Center’s Singer-Songwriter Program, released her first single “Wonderland,” off her debut EP of the same name. The EP is now available for pre-sale via iTunes Pre-sale and will be released on February 10th. Multi-Grammy winning producer Don Was (Rolling Stones, Al Green, John Mayer, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt) met soul singer-songwriter Tess Henley at Hollywood’s Hotel Cafe last March. Don instantly “loved her tone and emotion,” and “could hear an entire album with Tess”.

“The Guitar Center program has been a breath of fresh air for me,” said Tess. “Working with Don and the team of musicians he brought in was everything you’d hope a project to be. The whole experience was truly life-changing.”

Don assembled a dream team of musicians at Hollywood’s Henson Recording Studios, the birthplace of celebrated projects like Carole King’s Tapestry, and Joni Mitchell’s Blue. The inner circle included James Gadson on drums (Beck, Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers), James “Hutch” Hutchinson on bass (Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Al Green), Mark Goldenberg on guitar (Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt), Mike Finnigan on Hammond Organ (Jimi Hendrix, Michael McDonald), Michito Sanchez on percussion (Train, Aretha Franklin), and Tess on all keyboards. The resulting “Wonderland” EP was produced substantially to feature Tess’ emotional voice, and give her soulful songs space.
