(UK) Following his return to the charts with his fourth album Closer, Shayne Ward is set to turn up the heat this summer with ‘The Way You Were’, which will be released digitally on 22 June. You can listen to the track here!

The infectious pop track hears the former X Factor winner soar with his signature falsetto vocals over a thumping club beat. ‘The Way You Were’ is co-written by Shayne Ward and produced by Mike Stock (from legendary 80s pop production team Stock Aitken and Waterman). Much like many classic Stock Aitken and Waterman hits, behind the bubbly melodies lie bittersweet lyrics about love and loss.

Shayne Ward The Way You WereShayne Ward says: “With ‘The Way You Were’, we wanted to do a straight-to-the-heart dance pop record with meaningful lyrics that people can relate to. It’s about reminiscing on simpler times in a relationship and this longing to go back to basics.”

‘The Way You Were’ single will be available in two digital bundles. Fans can download ‘The Way You Were’ with brand new club-ready remixes by 7th Heaven and Love to Infinity. 7th Heaven have cut floor-filler remixes for the who’s who of pop such as Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Maroon 5 and Kylie Minogue. Equally prolific is Love to Infinity, who recently hit #1 on the US Dance Charts with their remix of Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Heartbeat Song’. Love to Infinity have previously remixed for the likes of Whitney Houston, Cher, Madonna and Pet Shop Boys. The remixes will be available for download on 22 June.

Shayne has also recorded a stripped back version of his first chart topper ‘That’s My Goal’, which is available for download on the ‘The Way You Were’ single. ‘That’s My Goal’ swiftly became the fastest-selling song of 2005 and earned Shayne the much-coveted Christmas Number 1 spot on the Official Charts that year.

Shayne recently performed his hits and a track from his latest album ‘Closer’ at the Morecambe Festival to a crowd of over 37,000 people. Over the past few years Shayne has starred on stage in Rock of Ages and Jeff Wayne’s War of The Worlds musicals. The Manchester born-and-bred star has sold over 3 million albums, been awarded 14 platinum discs and scored #1 records in nine countries.
