(AUS) Nashville country duo Striking Matches have announced the release of their brand new single ‘Missing You Tonight’, to be taken from their debut album, Nothing But The Silence, out March 27 on Caroline Australia. To pre-order the album click here.

The single, produced by Grammy-winning T-Bone Burnett, who has worked with the likes of Robert Plant, Allison Krauss, Elton John, Roy Orbison and Counting Crows, is a beautiful, country anthem that takes the listener deep into the heart of Nashville, with the staple diet sounds of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, syncopated bass lines, laid back drums and vocal harmonies to die for.

Both Sarah Zimmerman and Justin Davis take care of vocal duties that spout the most honest, heartfelt of lyrics; “I was just missing you tonight”. The track occupies that sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock and blues, where all of the elements blend to form an authentically raw and rootsy sound that has a timeless and international appeal.

Their songs, including ‘When The Right One Comes Along’ and ‘Hanging On A Lie’ have been featured on More 4’s hit drama series Nashville and recorded by the show’s stars Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen, which has opened the door to a host of new fans both in the US and internationally. Striking Matches’ first performances in London saw sold-out shows and audiences with a real knowledge of their lyrics, even before the release of the first full album. The band’s debut self-titled EP was named among iTunes’ ‘Best Of 2012’ and received national attention from outlets such as NPR, the BBC and The Wall Street Journal.

Highlights of Striking Matches’ debut album include songs such as ‘Hanging On A Lie’, which the duo reinterpret with grit, a distorted mandolin and a mid-song jam session, as well as the beautifully honest ‘Nothing But The Silence’, the guitar-centered likes of ‘Trouble Is As Trouble Does’ and ‘Make A Liar Out of Me’, and the more groove-oriented ‘Never Gonna Love Again.’

Striking Matches are the first artist to sign to the newly revived label, I.R.S. Nashville, and have toured with the likes of Train, Vince Gill, Ashley Monroe and Hunter Hayes. Their debut album Nothing But The Silence is a perfect fit in the landscape of today’s commercial music and also stands out from the rest of the pack with its driving rhythms and simple, yet artful production, that showcases the duo’s compelling harmonies, honest lyrics and innovative guitar playing.
