Single Review: Ed Sheeran – ‘The A Team’
2 min readIn the lead up to a hectic touring schedule and numerous appearances at some of the largest UK festivals over the summer including Bestival, Latitude and the monstrosity that is Glastonbury, Ed Sheeran releases his debut single The A Team, which is taken from his forthcoming debut album which is set for release over the coming months.
Already tipped as one of the best songwriters to come out of the UK over the past couple of years, Sheeran unleashes his sublime, vulnerable vocals on a track that is as beautiful musically as it is lyrically. With a voice that cold melt butter and make anyone go weak at the knees, Sheeran showcases his vocal talents on the track around a backdrop of lightly strum guitars, a bluesy guitar midsection and some syrupy string arrangements.
Though The A Team is Sheeran’s first commercial release within his signing to Asylum Records, he is no stranger to the gig circuit having sold thousands of EP’s on the back of a busy life as a touring musician.
The A Team is a masterful and exquisite piece of songwriting and one that will without doubt help Sheeran to become known as one of the UK’s truly talented new artists.
