So it is coming up to that time of year again when your old classics are dug out of the cupboard, dusted down and given their moment to shine once more, albeit for a few weeks! What we crave year after year going into the festive season is a record that gives us an exciting, fresh take on everybody’s favourites, along with a few brand new original numbers that we can all belt out with the best of them! Cue Hanson, who are arguably everybody’s best loved kid-pop rock heroes (remember MMMBop!), and their upcoming release, Finally It’s Christmas.

It features real worldwide favourites like Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas, Stevie Wonder’s Someday At Christmas and Aretha Franklin’s Winter Wonderland, along with a signature 21st Century revamp of the ultimate classic in Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmas Time. The album as a whole from beginning to end exudes festive positivity and energy that celebrates all things great about the holidays. They manage to consistently deliver a very wholesome sound in both their covers and also their original numbers including the title track, Finally It’s Christmas. Writing a good and original Christmas song is difficult enough as it is, but this track really feels catchy and hooky enough to hold it’s own in what can seem like an exhausted, and saturated niche musical genre.

Finally It’s Christmas displays the colourful range of the iconic band’s typical melody-driven pop that we know and love them for. For those who are in need of refreshing their Christmas record collection, it may be time to shift your Wizzard’s, your Slade’s (and dare I say your Michael Buble’s!) to one side, as this lovely little album from Hanson could easily be your next soundtrack to your family dinnertime come December 25th.
