Single Review: Aeroplane – ‘We Can’t Fly’
2 min readHaving remixed tracks for Grace Jones and MGMT, Vito De Luca, aka Aeroplane, has set his sights on pastures new and is gearing up for the release of his debut album over the coming months and the albums first single, We Can’t Fly gives us a glimpse into the full album.
The single, to be released on July 5th, is a cosmical pop track layered with Caribbean beats and exempt of all but the occasional and short choir spurts. It’s a solo venture for De Luca who has only recently taken a side step from musical partner Stephen Fasano.
We Can’t Fly is not a very radio friendly track so it’s hard to tell where this one will get the radio play needed for it to have any longevity outside of being heavily remixed for the clubs. There is a glimpse of hope in the remix provided with the single but even this drags behind itself.
We Can’t Fly doesn’t really take you on a journey to anywhere you want to go. It’s lack lustre production is only rivaled by its boring melody.
Let’s just hope the parent album has more substance to allow Aeroplane to get a bit of lift off and prove that the duo hasn’t just lost it’s pilot.
