Single Review: Little Mix – ‘Little Me’

Little Mix continues to remove any stereotypical ideas about the winners of reality music shows with their new single. Little Me is the second single to come from the band’s second album, Salute. With the success of their first single Move and first album DNA, Little Mix shows no sign of slowing down, with the number of ‘Mixers’ (Little Mix fans) growing every day.
Little Me is a inspirational and powerful message of strength to the band’s fans, conveyed through the highly personal lyrics: “Wish I could somehow/Go back in time and maybe listen to my own advice.” The melody soars over a crashing drum beat which is reminiscent of a 90s R&B track, creating the sort of edgy pop track Little Mix has become known for. Little Me also features exceptional vocals with perfect harmonies, another thing Little Mix have become known for. The mature lyrics, which talks of growing up, may be ironic to some considering how young Perrie, Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne are. However, the song’s topic is a breath of fresh air from the generic pop songs about love and relationships.
Little Me will, undoubtedly, be another huge hit for Little Mix. This British girl band is bringing back 90s pop with their new album Salute, and Little Me is a great second single to continue their success.
