TV Review: Hart of Dixie – The Complete Fourth Season
2 min readBluebell’s resident doctor Zoe Hart returns for the fourth and final season of Hart of Dixie. Back for another season of love, heartbreak and homely wit, former New Yorker Zoe (Rachel Bilson) is on a quest to win back the man she loves, bartender Wade Kinsella (Wilson Bethel). After three seasons of confusion and turmoil, Zoe finally chooses the love of her life, only to have to win him back. Meanwhile, Lemon Breeland (Jaime King) finds herself on the same path of love and career.
After the success of The O.C, Bilson was scarcely seen on television until her comeback with Hart of Dixie. Though the series was met with lukewarm reviews, critics noted that Bilson’s charm and quick wit shined on screen. Similarly to her O.C persona, Bilson’s Zoe takes the spotlight and gleams with comedic and endearing glamour. Finally deciding Wade – over George and Joel – Zoe has the interesting and funny task of winning Wade over with her romantically entertaining ways. Likewise, King’s character Lemon has shown significant development since the beginning of the series, evolving from a spoiled Southern belle to a trustworthy friend. Focusing on her career, Lemon realises she’s more that the stereotypical belle and outshines with her dedication and perseverance. Of course, she finds her happily ever after but is it George (Scott Porter) or Lavon (Cress Williams).
A small show set in the small town of Alabama, Hart of Dixie certainly gave fans laughter and joy with each season always enjoyable and charming. The final and 10 episode season gives each character a happy ending and concludes all storylines, producing a delightful end to the loveable series. A series that consistently provided happy and lighthearted moments, the CW show will surely be missed. Fortunately, the season comes to a satisfying close.
Babies, weddings and an abundance of sweet Southern love, the final season of Hart of Dixie will give us bittersweet ending.
