Single Review: Take That – ‘Let In The Sun’

1 min read

There is a definite formula for making it big on the dance charts these days. Uplifting melody, bright sunny lyrics, celebrity vocalists and usually a mega-star producer. Calvin Harris and David Guetta have mastered the sound, with almost everything they release set for a top 3 spot. The sound is seeping in to other genres as well, with pop perhaps the easiest target. One Direction, Rihanna and Ellie Goulding have all experimented with the fool-proof formula and now we can add Take That to the list.

Take That Let In The SunThe boys are back with the second single of their seventh studio album, III – which is a little confusing. What’s not confusing though, is what a clear hit this track is. It ticks all the boxes for being a sure-fire dance chart climber, except for perhaps the mega-star producer – something the single is not suffering for lacking.

Let In The Sun is a bright, catchy summer anthem, perfectly designed to be blasted from the decks at a beach party in Ibiza. The combination of the uplifting melody, the positive lyrical content and Barlow’s vocals draws immediate comparison’s with Avicii’s These Are The Days, featuring Robbie Williams funnily enough. But with Avicii almost the undisputed king of this genre right now, Take That are in excellent company.
