Single Review: Kasabian – ‘Stevie’

1 min read

It seems like it’s out with the old and in with the new for British rockers Kasabian as their latest album 48:13 sees the group take a big step out of their comfort zone.

Kasabian-4813The band’s first two releases eez-eh and bumblebeee are a completely different sound to their usual indie style and have received mixed reviews from hard core fans around the world. Their next single will be the album’s third track Stevie, a racy melody about a maniac named Stevie who is being talked out of a killing spree “Stevie, where you going with that gun, who you wanna shoot down, who you tryinna kill”.

The song begins with an intense viola build up that seems fitting for the opening of a James Bond film. The rest of the track shows a solid performance from the British rockers with some familiar sounds that will keep the earlier fans happy. Whether you like their old style or their new style you must appreciate the group’s decision to try something different instead of sticking to the same sound like some bands tend to do. With this new sound and new direction I look forward to hearing what the four boys from Britain will come up with next.
