Single Review: Jess Glynne – ‘Hold My Hand’
2 min readUK singer/songwriter Jess Glynne is no stranger to chart success, particularly as she’s the voice behind Clean Bandit’s smash hits Rather Be and Real Love, as well as featuring on Route 94’s My Love; seemingly there isn’t a place where her voice hasn’t been heard, and that’s not a bad thing. The pop starlet continues to challenge the charts, this time with her latest single Hold My Hand; will this be another chart topper?
Hold My Hand is introduced by the energetically relentless keys, Glynne’s vocal is thankfully as addictive as ever as she sings over the persistent beat and pace of the track; lyrically she as the protagonist assures a potential partner that she’s ready to welcome them into her life so she can overcome the negative aspects of her life, an inspiring tune. You would still consider this track as a mainstream pop number, but there’s still something different in its formula that differentiates it from most, much like Glynne’s work with Clean Bandit.
It’s hard to say whether Jess has a lot to thank Clean Bandit for, or the other way round, but you can’t deny the success that their collaborative work has brought to each other’s doorstep. Hold My Hand serves as assurance that Glynne can easily stand alone as an artist, her vocal is easily what sells the track and just the overall vibe of the track is enough to make it likeable; it doesn’t stray entirely from what we’ve heard from the rising starlet thus far, but the door to her career is steadily opening still and many more popportunities are in her wake. We can’t wait to hear more from Jess Glynne.
