Ones To Watch: Mountain Bird
2 min readLocation: Stockholm, Sweden
Genre: Indie-electronica
Adam Öhman, known as Mountain Bird – is a Stockholm-based producer/artist creating a world of indie-electronica. Synth laden melodies and crisp, yet ethereal electronic beats paint a picture of dreamy Scandinavian melancholy.
BBC Radio 2’s Steve Lamacq, Radio X, Absolute Radio and numerous online channels have already warmed to the 80’s inspired analogue synth sound. Now Adam is back in the studio working on new material for Swedish tastemaker label, With Love Recordings (CANVAS, Swim, Neeco Delaf).
First release ‘Hearts To Gold’ was released worldwide on June 3rd. “The track is a tale of celebration,” Mountain Bird explains. “Shining positive light on creators, the over-thinkers, anyone who has ever been a part of a sub-culture anyone who dealt with the anxiety of society’s expectations. ”
Analogue sounds, a moog synth bass and triggered drum samples build to a crescendo of emotion, reminiscent of French beat-makers M83.
‘Hearts To Gold’ marks the start of a new chapter in Öhman’s burgeoning career. Both a talented songwriter, and clearly a hugely accomplished producer – this new single is just the start. A flurry of electrifying releases are set to be unveiled throughout the summer, into the autumn months.
Mountain Bird has the ability to take the listener on a journey, incorporating Scandinavian-pop influences into a electronic-infused dream-pop soundscape.
An incredibly exciting artist, one sure to make a big impact over the coming months.
