News: Vance Joy Announces Australian Tour

2 min read

(AUS) With just two days left until the release of his debut album Dream Your Life Away, Vance Joy brings some extra cheer to fans today, announcing a run of tour dates for March next year.  The tour will see Vance Joy travel with his band to major capital cities and regional locations nation-wide, performing material from the new LP.

Vance Joy has also just unveiled another live video from Sing Sing Studios, showcasing the gorgeous album track, ‘Georgia’. ‘Georgia’ follows the recent release of ‘Wasted Time’ from Sing Sing and ‘My Kind of Man’ from Flinders Street Ballroom.

All songs feature on his much anticipated debut album, out this Friday.  Dream Your Life Away also includes lead track ‘Mess Is Mine’ – a Top 40 ARIA single – and bona-fide hit ‘Riptide’, which continues to see the Melbourne musician’s star rise internationally. ‘Riptide’ has spent the last four weeks atop the Alternative Radio Chart in the US ahead of acts like alt-J, The Black Keys and Coldplay, and last week reached its highest position yet on the Billboard Hot 100 at #61. Globally the song remains Top 40 in the UK (Silver), Canada (Gold), Germany (Gold), Ireland (Gold) and Sweden (platinum), with over 1.5 million sales worldwide and 87 million streams on Spotify.

Following the release of Dream Your Life Away in Australia, the album will be released in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe, where anticipation is also escalating. The coming months will see Vance Joy tour these regions extensively.  His run of UK dates is already sold out, with a second London show recently announced to keep up with demand.

Vance Joy plays a special one-off and sold-out album launch at The Athenaeum Theatre this Friday, before returning to Australia for Falls Festival at year’s end.

Joining him on the March tour dates will be #1 Dads and Airling. Opener Airling, has quickly made a name for herself on the local scene, winning triple J Unearthed and scoring a slot at Splendour In The Grass this year.  The Brisbane songstress is the first signing to Big Scary’s Pieater label.  The creation of Tom Iansek (one half of the aforementioned alt-pop act Big Scary), #1 Dads will take to the stage just before Vance Joy.  #1 Dads recently released the stunning LP About Face. These shows mark his first ever Australian tour.

Tickets for Vance Joy’s March tour are on sale Friday September 12.
