News: Uber One Presents All Points East Announce Loyle Carner’s Special Guests

5 min read

London’s celebrated music festival Uber One presents All Points East is excited to announce its first headliner for 2024, the revered artist and inimitable live performer Loyle Carner is coming to Victoria Park on Saturday 17 August. He’ll be joined by special guests Nas, Ezra Collective, Sainté, Joe James, ENNY and Navy Blue, with the full line up to be announced.

Carner has graced massive festival shows and venues across the UK and beyond in 2023, with the Wembley OVO Arena in London a career standout. This was followed by a string of packed out festival appearances over the summer, including a headline slot at Glastonbury’s West Holts stage,  Primavera Sound and most recently, the legendary Royal Albert Hall. Carner,  with some very special guests and an electrifying live-band,  joined the ranks of star-studded performers that have appeared at the iconic venue over the past century. All Points East follows a string of rapidly sold-out shows across the capital, and will be a continuation and evolution of his esteemed live performance legacy.

With multiple Mercury and Brits nominations, NME Awards and appearances in global brand campaigns (such as New Balance, Nike, YSL), Carner has  had an undoubtedly meteoric rise to the top, culminating with his critically lauded 2022 album “hugo” charting at number 3 in the UK album chart.

“hugo” is a 10-track compendium of urgent delivery and gloriously widescreen production, Carner confronts both the deeply personal and the highly political. Cinematic in scale and scope, “hugo” is both a rallying war cry for a generation forged in fire and a study of the personal internal conflict that drives the rest of the album – as a mixed-race Black man, as an artist, as a father and as a son.

Known for immensely engaging live performances and collaborations with other notable acts, Carner played a significant role in the UK rap scene’s growth and evolution. His impact on music, his dedication to important causes and his continued contributions to the industry have solidified his reputation as a respected and influential figure in British music.  With over 790 million global streams – 338 million from the UK – over 657,000 album sales, more than 40 million YouTube views and over 800,000 social media followers, Loyle Carner continues to stake his claim as one of the most accomplished British rappers in history. The All Points East performance is his only London live date for 2024 and is going to be his biggest yet.

Renowned as the greatest rapper of all time, Nas is making an appearance at Victoria Park. Nas (Nasir Jones) first reached an international audience when his track Halftime was tapped by producer MC Serch as the opening cut on 1992’s Zebrahead movie soundtrack. His critically acclaimed debut came in 1994, the RIAA platinum album “Illmatic,” followed by successive chart-toppers like “It Was Written” and “God’s Son.” Over the years, Nas has achieved numerous platinum records, GRAMMY nominations, and notable collaborations, solidifying his status as a hip-hop king.

In 2020, he released “King’s Disease,” which not only marked his first album in two years but also earned him his first GRAMMY win for “Best Rap Album.” Following the success, Nas dropped “King’s Disease II” in 2021, featuring collaborations with Eminem, EPMD, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Ms Lauryn Hill and more, earning yet another GRAMMY nomination. Nas continued to surprise fans with his recent release, Magic, featuring A$AP Rocky and DJ Premier. His enduring influence and continued artistic innovation showcase why Nas remains an iconic figure in the world of rap and it’s an honour to have him perform at Uber One presents All Points East next summer.

Ezra Collective are dominating 2023, having recently captivated a sold-out audience at the Royal Albert Hall and clinched a Mercury Prize for their latest album “Where I’m Meant to Be.” This triumph marked a historic win for jazz, described by the band as a “vibrant celebration of life and a testament to their evolving hybrid sound.” Their earlier successes include the critically acclaimed debut album “You Can’t Steal My Joy” in 2019 and a groundbreaking Glastonbury performance. The anticipation is high as Ezra Collective returns to the Uber One presents All Points East stage, promising to once again be the soundtrack of our summer.

South London singer and rapper ENNY is making a big return to Uber One presents All Points East! She emerged in 2020 with the critically acclaimed single Peng Black Girls. Since then she’s gone from strength to strength – she was listed on BBC Sound of 2022, headlined her own show at OMEARA in April and released a six-track EP, We Go Again, which includes a guest feature from Loyle Carner on Take It Slow.

Leicester’s Sainté brings a unique West Coast flavour to his music. Recognised for the smooth flow of his lyrics, showcased in his debut EP Local MVP, Sainté effortlessly navigates diverse styles like hip-hop, jazz, and R&B, drawing inspiration from Pharrell, Drake, and Freddie Gibbs.

Essex native Joe James’ unique style, marked by raw rhymes and effortless delivery, evokes deep emotions, creating a powerful connection with listeners across his discography. As GRM Daily puts it, “Being both a prolific artist and a top-tier wordsmith, Joe James is definitely an artist worthy of keeping your eye on.”

L.A. rapper and producer Navy Blue has been a notable figure in rap’s underground scene since 2015. Initially known as a skateboarder, he transitioned to music, collaborating with legendary artists like Earl Sweatshirt and MIKE. In 2020, he founded the independent label Freedom Sounds and released his debut studio album, “Àdá Irin”, followed by “Song of Sage: Post Panic!” (2020) and “Navy’s Reprise” (2021).

This first wave for Saturday’s line up at Uber One presents All Points East is hard to beat, and many more acts to be announced across the two weekends and for In the NBHD midweek programme.
