Nazareth started in the late 60’s/early 70’s and were pioneers of a distinctive and definitive rock ‘n ‘ roll sound which had a massive influence on many of the great rock bands that followed – most notably Axl Rose and Guns n Roses, who recorded a cover of ‘Hair of the Dog’ on ‘The Spaghetti Incident’ album.
Releasing their eponymous debut album in 1971 and touring with the likes of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, Nazareth quickly established their credentials as one of Britain’s greatest hard rock bands. Their breakthrough album Razamanaz in 1973 spawned 2 Top 10 hits: ‘Broken Down Angel’ and ‘Bad Bad Boy’. Following this they recorded the Boudleaux Bryant penned ballad ‘Love Hurts,’ which was first recorded by the Everly Brothers and then Roy Orbison. Nazareth’s version shot to number one in 6 countries and saturated radio airwaves all over the world!
