News: Melanie C Announces One-Off Headline Show In Celebration Of 50th Birthday

Pop icon Melanie C has today announced a very special birthday show at London’s Koko on Friday 12th January 2024. This one-of-a-kind party will see Sporty Spice perform songs across her trailblazing 30-year career, and be joined by very special surprise guests as she marks her 50th birthday with fans and friends. Tickets for this intimate show go on sale Friday September 15th at 10AM. Melanie C’s first London show since early 2022 promises to be a Fiftieth-Do like no other. Fresh from a packed-out summer, Melanie has brought her unstoppable energy everywhere from her prestigious DJ’ing residency in Ibiza to worldwide festivals – including her roadblock return to Glastonbury – as well as in support of The Lionesses: a lifelong ambassador of women in sport, she featured on the ‘Call Me A Lioness’ charity single alongside the likes of Self Esteem and Olivia Dean, on top of remixing Tove Lo’s latest banger ‘I like u’. Melanie C’s impact on the modern pop landscape has never been clearer, with her Koko show in early 2024 kicking off a new decade in Sporty’s own unmistakable style. Melanie C’s birthday show promises to look back, too, on her incredible journey thus far. She has made history with the Spice Girls ever since 1996 debut single ‘Wannabe’, which became the best-selling single of all time by a female group and saw the band go on to sell more than 85 million records. They reunited for an epic stadium tour in 2019, witnessing for themselves the influence that Girl Power has had on a new generation. With genre-spanning solo hits like ‘When You’re Gone’, ‘I Turn to You’ and ‘Never Be The Same Again’, Melanie has sold over 3 million solo albums and released her latest, self-titled album in 2020 – it reached #8 in the UK album charts (her best position for 17 years) to widespread praise (“vital pop…her best work since she went it alone” – The Guardian, 4/5). Since then, Melanie has become a Sunday Times best selling author with the release of her long-awaited autobiography, “Who I Am”, and conquer yet another first: she made her debut in the world of contemporary dance in a critically acclaimed collaboration with Jules Cunningham & Company at Sadler’s Wells, performing in the new piece how did we get here? Now, Melanie C invites you to celebrate her birthday in a party fit for an icon – tickets go on sale Friday 15th September at 10am via www.gigsandtours.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
