(UK) Global superstar and undisputed Queen of contemporary soul Mary J Blige follows her show-stealing performance alongside her friend and collaborator Sam Smith at last week’s Grammy Awards, with the release of her new single “Doubt”. Mary J Blige who has sold over 50 million albums, won 9 Grammy Awards (plus a staggering 31 nominations), and been widely acknowledged as the greatest, realest and most powerful soul singer of her generation, arrived in London at the beginning of July to write and record a whole album, from scratch, with the cream of the UK music scene.
In the various studios across the capital, some less salubrious than an artist of her stature would be used to, it quickly became apparent that something truly special was evolving. The result, altogether thrilling, is an album that displays the true evolution of an artist with each of the collaborators working with Blige to create a record driven by her one-of-a-kind voice.
