News: Lady Antebellum Announce Aussie Tour Off The Back Of New Album ‘747’

2 min read

(AUS) On the same day their new 747 album hits stores, seven-time Grammy winning USA trio Lady Antebellum have confirmed that they will return to Australia next March. Already announced as headliners for the massive CMC Rocks QLD 2015 festival, they will also play headline arena dates at Sydney’s QANTAS Credit Union Arena on Sunday 15 March and in Melbourne on Tuesday 17 March at Rod Laver Arena.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2007, Lady Antebellum have become one of contemporary music’s most successful and acclaimed groups, racking up awards and hit records over the course of five studio albums. Making their first trip to Australia as special guests of Keith Urban in 2011, Lady Antebellum were immediately embraced by local audiences. The title track from their double platinum selling Need You Now album shot up the charts and their subsequent headlining theatre tour saw them playing multiple sold out shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

With 747, Lady Antebellum’s fifth album, the band captures the speed and spirit of its critically acclaimed live show in 11 new songs. Bandmates Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood may have formed the group in Nashville, with all three singers harmonizing for the first time around Haywood’s piano, but they earned their stripes on the road. That’s where Lady Antebellum truly came alive, mixing the rootsy stomp of their music with the swooning, sweeping sound of three voices that were born to mesh.

As the shows got bigger, so did the band’s ambition. Written during the 2014 US Take Me Downtown Tour, 747 — whose title rustles up the image of a fast-moving plane bound for bigger, better places — doubles as a metaphor for the group itself. As their Australian fan-base continues to grow, Lady Antebellum is ready to pull up the wheels and climb even higher. The 747 Tour will see the group move to arenas for the first time, bringing their full spectacular live show that has been blowing away crowds in the US down under. Joining the trio as special guests will be fellow American stars Kristian Bush and Maddie & Tae.

Lady Antebellum’s brand new album 747, featuring the singles Bartender & One Great Mystery is out now and available for purchase here.
