News: Grouplove Postpone Tour Due To Illness

2 min read

(UK) It’s with deep regret that Grouplove have postponed their upcoming UK and Ireland headline tour due to singer, Hannah, having to undergo a procedure to repair her vocal chords. The tour dates, which included dates at Dublin Academy (Feb 16), Manchester’s Gorilla (Feb 18) and London’s Heaven (Feb 19), will be rescheduled shortly (purchased tickets will remain valid). The band’s new single ‘Ways to Go’, which is drumming up support from the likes of Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM, will release on February 9 and the band’s new album Spreading Rumours will now release on May 19.

Speaking about the news, Grouplove say We are deeply sorry to announce that we will be postponing our upcoming shows in the UK and Europe. Hannah is under strict orders from the doctor that she cannot sing (or talk for that matter) for the next four weeks as she undergoes a procedure to repair an aggravated vocal chord. We promise to do everything we can to make it up and come back as soon as we possibly can (we’re planning for May now). We hope you understand our situation, and we are deeply sorry for any additional inconvenience this causes you.

Since forming in 2009 after the band’s members met at an artist’s retreat on the Greek island of Crete, Grouplove have quickly become one of music’s most exhilarating young acts.  The band’s debut album Never Trust A Happy Song released to acclaim in 2011, and for the past two years, they’ve been performing to sell-out crowds around the world. Grouplove’s debut single ‘Colours’ set the mark for their energetic performances and dynamic sound. Their infectious follow-up single ‘Tongue Tied’ soared to #1 in the US and became the soundtrack to the global TV ad campaigns for Coca-Cola and iPod Touch. The song, which spent a whopping 43 weeks of Billboard’s alternative chart, has now sold over 1 million copies in the US alone.
