News: George The Poet Details Upcoming Single ‘Cat D’ And Announces Headline Tour

2 min read

(UK) Hot on the heels of being nominated for the BRITs Critic’s Choice Award, featuring in the top 5 of the BBC Soundpoll and being tipped as one to watch in 2015 by media across the board, (from Mojo through to The Sun and The Guardian), spoken word artist George The Poet will be releasing single ‘Cat D’ via Island Records on 16th February. You can listen to the track here!

The sparsely produced and soul inflected ‘Cat D’ follows on from the release of George’s critically acclaimed ‘The Chicken and The Egg’ EP and the Radio 1 playlisted and championed single, ‘1,2,1,2’. Written by George The Poet and produced by SOS Music, the metaphorically themed ‘Cat D’ sees George compare people to Category D cars.

In addition to the release of ‘Cat D’, this February will also see George The Poet embark on his first nationwide headline UK tour, which kicks off on the 19th in Glasgow at the Berkley Suite, travels to Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol, and then wraps up with two nights at the Haunt in Brighton on the 27th. A one off London date at The Village Underground will follow on 13th April.

George The Poet’s socio-political, street-savvy verse has already attracted the attention of music artists, actors, politicians and royalty alike. He has featured on Labrinth, Emile Sande, Paolo Nutini and Naughty Boy records, collaborated with Idris Elba, supported Nas and Common on tour, and headlined frequent live shows, (including a sell-out gig at The Scala last October). Over four million people have watched him on YouTube, while he has regularly appeared on the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky TV.

With his debut album due for release via Island Records this Summer and his first book of poetry confirmed to be published in the Spring, 2015 will see George The Poet emerge as not only one of the UK’s most unique music acts, but also as the compelling voice of a generation.
