News: Gavin James Releases ‘Book Of Love’ EP

2 min read

(US) Dublin’s Gavin James has commanded attention with his stunning rendition of Magnetic Fields’ “Book Of Love,” featured on his Live At Whelans album, out now. The album climbed to No. 1 on iTunes in Ireland upon pre-order launch, thanks in part to that soulful cover. Now for the first time, a studio version of the song is featured on the Book Of Love EP out today, complete with three additional remixes.

James has already won Ireland’s answer to the Mercury (the Choice Music Prize for Song of the Year) Awards that led to a string of sold-out headline dates and supporting tours with such artists as Lianne La Havas, Beth Orton, Kodaline and Marina & The Diamonds. The 22-year-old artist recently joined Seinabo Sey on her U.S. tour, and has since returned to Dublin, where he played a sold-out show at The Olympia Theatre on March 20. He is the first artist ever to sell out the historic venue before releasing a studio album.

His balled-esque folk has earned a rapturous following in his homeland, and James can count esteemed DJ Zane Lowe as a fan and supporter, who premiered “Book Of Love” on his BBC1 show. “The fresh-faced soul machine possesses the power to hush a room,” exclaimed Hotpress while Hunger noted his “flair for songwriting, paired with his unparalleled vocal ability, that has marked James out as a star on the continual rise.”

Starting April 15, James will return to the U.S. to join Kodaline on their month-long North American tour. Click here for more information.
