News: Gary Clark Jr. Announces Headline Shows

(AUS) Grammy-winning virtuoso guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, the Gary Clark Jr. has confirmed two headline shows this summer. A regular visitor to Australia and heading out for Falls Festival 2016, Clark will take to the stage for headline shows at the Sydney Opera House on January 4 and The Forum, Melbourne on January 7.
The shows follow the release last month of his second full-length studio album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim (Warner Music Australia), featuring lead tracks ‘The Healing’ and ‘Grinder’. Inspired by his southern roots the 13-track album was written, produced and arranged by Clark and recorded in his native Austin, Texas.
Tickets for both shows will go on sale at 10am Monday, October 12. Gary Clark Jr. is one of guitar’s modern heroes, drawing audiences from all corners of the world, acclaim from peers and public alike, and hailed as ‘the future of Texan blues’. Pulling inspiration from a wide array of influences, style and genres – not limited to blues, gospel, roots, soul, RnB and rock n roll – the evolution of Clark’s magnificent musical styling continues. From his 2011 Bright Lights EP, to the major label debut album Blak and Blu (2012), Gary Clark Jr LIVE (2014) and now The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.
Clark has toured extensively, as special guest with The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Foo Fighters, sold out Sydney and Melbourne shows four times; appearances at Big Day Out (2013), Byron Bay Bluesfest (2014 & 2015), Coachella, Bonnaroo, Metallica’s Orion Fest, Jay Z’s Made in America Festival, Neil Young curated Bridge School Benefit, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza (2015).
Clark returns to Australia for Falls Festival and Southbound Festival, plus these two not-to-be-missed performances in Melbourne and Sydney, January 2016.
