News: Garbage Reveal Details Of New Anthology Release

Influential alternative rock band Garbage have today revealed details of a new Anthology release for 28th October via BMG/Stunvolume. The band’s first ‘Best Of’ collection in fifteen years, Anthology contains material from across Garbage’s impressive, nearly 30 year long career, including songs from their 1995 debut album Garbage, through to tracks from their most recent, critically acclaimed LP No Gods No Masters released in 2021. Anthology also includes the rare track Witness To Your Love, as well as original artwork from Chilean artist Javi Mi Amor who collaborated with the band on No Gods No Masters.

Speaking about Anthology, Garbage’s Shirley Manson says: ‘This anthology is testimony to almost 3 decades of creative work together, our collective tenacity and our terrifying ability as a group to withstand ritual humiliation on a regular basis. Regardless of the inevitable shifts and tides within the music industry, we are surprised to find ourselves still here, making records and touring the globe. It is in no small part as a result of the astounding fan support we receive. Our love and gratitude to all, for everything’.

Anthology includes all of the classic Garbage hits that you would expect such as Stupid Girl, Queer, Only Happy When It Rains, Special and fan favourite The Trick Is to Keep Breathing. Also included is the band’s brilliant Bond song The World Is Not Enough, #1 Crush, their now iconic contribution to Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet and their recent politically charged singles No Gods No Masters and The Men Who Rule The World. Speaking about The Men Who Rule The World, Shirley Manson says :

‘The words came tumbling out when we were recording it. The song was inspired by the movement in South America when women took to the streets and stood outside their governmental buildings and thrust their fists in the air and demanded change. We’re all at this moment where we realise that something is severely broken in our culture’.

Anthology is released as a double CD album, as well as double LP in transparent yellow – find the full tracklisting below and pre-order here.

Garbage will play the upcoming ‘Sound of 007 in Concert’ at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Tuesday 4th October, alongside Dame Shirley Bassey.
