News: First Kew The Music Support Artists Announced

The first set of support acts for Kew the Music 2024, with Gabrielle Aplin supporting Passenger on Thursday 11th July, Tinchy Stryder supporting JLS on Friday 12th July, Asa as a special guest ahead of Beverly Knight on Saturday 13th July, and Jamie Webster and Callum Beattie are to support Richard Ashcroft on Sunday 14th July.

The annual week-long festival of picnic concerts is set in the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site, Kew Gardens in south west London, and has become one of the fixtures in the London summer music calendar.

Established as one of the most spectacular summer concert venues in the UK, the shows are a hit amongst all generations of music lovers. Unusually for outdoor events, guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink or can enjoy the open-air bars and street food stalls.

Supporting Passenger on Thursday 11th of July will be British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin, who first gained a following online after publishing acoustic covers of her favorite songs. Since, the melancholic and dreamy style of Gabrielle has earned her a gold-certified album, four number one singles globally and over 1 billion streams.

A staple of the grime music scene, Tinchy Stryder, known for his work alongside Dizzee Rascal and Wiley as part of the collective Roll Deep, is to support JLS on Friday 12th July. Tinchy launched his solo career in 2006 with the release of his first studio album ‘Star in the Hood’, followed by ‘Catch 22’ , which reached number 2 in the UK album charts. As part of the album, Tinchy collaborated with hip-hop trio N-Dubz to produce ‘Number 1’ which went straight in at number one on the charts.

Supporting Beverly Knight on the 13th of July will be soul singer and songwriter, Asa, known for her captivating live performances and ability to blend multiple genres such as soul, reggae and jazz. A Parisian-born, Nigerian artist, Asa’s eponymous debut album earned platinum status in France, with her second record ‘Beautiful Imperfection’ bringing her a Victoires De La Musique nomination for Best Female Act.

Jamie Webster, who rose to fame by bringing together the two worlds of football and music with his Liverpool FC themed songs and covers such as, ‘Allez Allez Allez’ and ‘Virgil Van Dijk’, is to support Richard Ashcroft on Sunday 14th July.

Jamie scored a top ten in the UK album charts and a number one in the UK folk charts with his debut album ‘We Get By’ released in 2020. His 2021 album ‘Moments’ came in at number 3 on the official UK chart and number two in the indie chart. Opening the evening ahead of Jamie will be independent Scottish singer-songwriter Callum Beattie.
