3 min read

London’s festival American Express presents BST Hyde Park returns for 2023 and today announces that the global superstars and unstoppable K-pop trailblazers, BLACKPINK will join the capital’s biggest festival bill on Sunday 2nd July.

Once again making history, BLACKPINK will become the first K-pop act to headline a major UK festival. The South Korean quartet join previously announced Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Billy Joel and P!nk on the BST Hyde Park billing for their London festival debut.

Last month, tickets sold out instantly for BLACKPINK’s two upcoming shows at the O2 Arena, and next summer their loyal army of fans, BLINKS, will help light up the world’s greatest outdoor venue, a stage befitting of the planet’s brightest and biggest artists.

Over the course of their 6 year career, BLACKPINK have released 2 studio albums, 3 EPs and have collaborated with fellow global superstars, from Lady Gaga to Cardi B, Dua Lipa and Selena Gomez.

Comprised of members JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA, the group have earned acclaim by becoming the #1 most subscribed act on YouTube (with over 80M) and earning their status as the most-followed girl group on Spotify. They’ve continued to smash their own boundary-defying records with the release of BORN PINK, debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 in the US, the highest-charting album by a girl group in over a decade. BORN PINK also reached #1 on the UK Official Album Charts, the first ever K-pop girl group to achieve this.

With their countless record breaking hits, BLACKPINK have taken the world by storm. Single ‘SHUT DOWN’ from latest album BORN PINK launched at #1 on the Billboard Global Charts, and previously released single ‘Pink Venom’ made history as the biggest release this decade by a female group or solo artist. At over 269M views, the record-breaking ‘Pink Venom’ was YouTube’s biggest debut of 2022, amassing 90.4M views within the first 24 hours.

Through the years, BLACKPINK have also garnered a number of major awards (including three E! People’s Choice Awards and most recently awarded Best Metaverse Performance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards where Lisa also made history as first K-pop soloist to win Best K-pop Act), and starred in BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky (a 2020 film hailed by the New York Times as an “endearing documentary that emphasizes each member’s individuality”). With over 6.3 billion career Spotify streams to date, BLACKPINK delivered their wildly anticipated sophomore album BORN PINK in September. The group are now on the road for their 2022/2023 BORN PINK world tour, coming to Europe in November.

BLACKPINK at BST Hyde Park will go down in history, joining its past iconic once-in-a-lifetime shows. 2022’s BST Hyde Park saw three monumental weekends of music; the Rocketman himself Elton John performed as a part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, The Rolling Stones were reunited with Hyde Park for two incredible sell out nights, with an emotional and triumphant tribute to the late Charlie Watts. London’s global star Adele brought it home for two shows with an incredible all female line up. The Sunday vibes were offered up by Americana legends Eagles and Pearl Jam provided two packed nights of rock n roll. Finally, one of Britain’s best loved groups, Duran Duran, closed the final night with a day of singalong smash hits.

American Express Cardmembers can take advantage of the first presale from 10am today (Friday 21 October).

The BST presale starts at 10am, Monday 24 October, with tickets on general sale at 10am, Thursday 27 October.
