Interview: Pepsi & Shirlie (Wham!)
2 min readWith a massive catalogue of hits including Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, Careless Whisper, Last Christmas, I’m Your Man and Club Tropicana Wham! unleashed an infectious brand of power pop on the world which, though the band were only around for a brief five years, still remains a symbolic staple in pop history and made an ever glowing star out of front man George Michael.
Following the band’s break-up we were offered a collection of the acts most treasured and most successful hits in the form of The Final which acted as a greatest hits package. That package has now been remastered and put together with a bonus disc packed full of all of the Wham! music videos to celebrate the collections 25th Anniversary. With Andrew Ridgley living the reclusive life away from the spotlight and George Michael busy on his current Symphonica tour the torch was passed to the band’s legendary backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie to hit the road once again to promote the latest Wham! release and Brendon was given the extremely rare opportunity of catching up with the ladies to discuss the release and talk all things Wham!. Here is what they had to say.
